To succeed in the program, it is strongly recommended to complete the intensive course "Introduction to Probability". It is held in person at the Mathematics Institute of LMU in late September-early October, before regular lectures begin in mid-October.
Before taking the intensive course, we also suggest the following reading list:
- H. Bauer. Probability theory, volume 23 of De Gruyter Studies in Mathematics. Walter de Gruyter & Co., Berlin, german edition, 1996.
- H. Bauer. Measure and integration theory, volume 26 of De Gruyter Studies in Mathematics. Walter de Gruyter & Co., Berlin, 2001. Translated from the German by Robert B. Burckel.
- D. L. Cohn. Measure theory. Birkhäuser Advanced Texts: Basler Lehrbücher. [Birkhäuser Advanced Texts: Basel Textbooks]. Birkhäuser/Springer, New York, second edition, 2013.
